With a determination to improve my reading skills, after not being able to read and comprehend for 12 months, I attended a reading class given by brain coach Jim Kwik.

After improving my psychical health months ago, my reading skills, focus, and concentration didn’t improve. No matter what I tried. What if it could be easy as…

Lately, I tend to lose my way in the supermarket. I know this sounds awkward. When I walk in, and at the department with veggies and fruits, I’m so distracted that I can’t remember what I’m doing in the supermarket. When I’m at the checkout, I get overwhelmed when it’s crowded. And when I pay, I always think: “Was this where I came for?” Even with a list, I come home with the wrong groceries. This is something I never experienced before I got Covid-19. What is happening in my brain?

During the course, Jim told us that learning isn’t a spectator sport, so we had to take action. Just by eating PIE, I experienced the power of imagination combined with senses to learn and remember. We visited his office in New York, and with each physical step, we learned to remember all ten things you can do to create a healthy brain.

It was the second time that day I was able to remember things and recalled them in my short term memory. Earlier that day, I went to the grocery store to buy Jim’s 10 favourite brain foods. With imagination, I adjusted them to body parts with a funny story. Crazy and childish… I remembered all ten! For the first time in months, I tried another way and came home with groceries I went out for.

For me, this is a good starting point in breaking this vicious circle Long Covid is causing. I’m determined to find ways to recover! I had a trained brain, and I have the ability to train it again. Believing me and my brain aren’t broken gives me the power to take action. How little and insignificant my improvements might have seemed before I got ill, I know these small, simple steps will help me achieve my bigger goal.
