After hours of phone calls with the insurance company, they finally made an arrangement to get back home. We packed all of our stuff the day before our planned trip by ambulance.

I still had only one pair of pants to wear. The blue one they gave me in the hospital was the only one I could get over my plaster cast. So that was what I wore on the day we traveled back to the Netherlands.

At 9.00 a.m., the ambulance came to pick us up. They put me on a chair and carried me down all the building stairs—a weird experience. In the ambulance, the ambulance brothers tight me on a brand card. My daughter was allowed to sit in the back next to me. Our trip began.

In the ambulance, we got a survival kit with food, snacks, and drinks for the day. After a long ride and a few stops, we finally crossed the border. Before 8 p.m., we were back in our own home, with all our luggage.
